Introduction to Turmeric:- Turmeric is a perennial herbaceous highly branched plant that reaches up to 4 feet tall. Turmeric is native to Asia. These plants are grown for their rhizomes. The turmeric powder is made by boiling rhizomes for about 45 minutes and then dried in hot ovens and ground into powder. Turmeric Home Remedies #1 – Common colds and blocked nose: Add 1 tbsp. of fresh turmeric powder in adequate boiling water. Try to inhale the vapours from the water.
Turmeric Home Remedies #2 – Anti-aging : You should make a paste by mixing gram flour (basin) and turmeric powder in equal quantities with water. This paste should be applied evenly on your face and allow it to dry. Once dried, rinse off with lukewarm water and scrub your face gently in a circular motion.
Turmeric Home Remedies #3 – Dry coughs and sore throat: Mix a pinch of turmeric powder in hot milk (1 cup) and drink it before going to sleep.

- Oily skin: Mix a pinch of turmeric powder and one and half tbsp. of sandalwood powder with 3 tbsp. of orange juice to make face pack. Apply this pack or paste on the face and keep it dried for some time (15 minutes) and rinse off with warm water.

Precautions / Side Effects of Using Turmeric or Its Related Products:- Though there are many health benefits of Turmeric, one should be careful before consuming as it has other side effects as well when consumed in over doses.
- Don’t exceed 3 doses of 500 mg when orally ingested.
- As we all know anything above the normal limits/ dosage will have side effects. However, there are no serious side effects of turmeric. Some people may suffer from Nausea, Upset Stomach, Diarrhoea and Dizziness.
